Tristan D., creator of the project “Avenues & Oceans”, started playing music at the age of 3. With a keyboardist father, he was introduced to piano. He then got his first drum kit at the age of 5, an instrument he kept on playing to this day. Later on, he started learning the bass at age 13 and the guitar at age 15.

Following the footsteps of his dad, he started recording tracks with keyboard and virtual drums at the age of 8, until developing his skills in mixing and mastering while learning new instruments, completely by himself and without any musical theory.

Mostly influenced by prog-rock thanks to his dad, his music takes inspiration from various musical universe: progressive rock and metal (Anathema, Steven Wilson, IQ, Porcupine Tree, Nightwish, Sleep Token…), indie-rock (Daughter, Men I Trust…), synth-pop (The Weeknd, S-X…) as well as electronic music (Tame Impala, various chillstep artists…)

His music, as well as lyrics, is mostly dark and ambient, with emphasis on soundscapes and orchestral elements.

From a first EP in 2020 to his latest concept-album “And the Crows Flew Away” in 2025, A&O has been called “much more than a progressive rock album, an expanding universe” by the french media “Adopte Un Disque”.
